Thank you so very much for your wonderful care of Andy’s mobility needs for over 15 years.
We came to think of you all as family and felt that you treated us as such. Not only was the genie and its continued developments a chair that gave comfort and freedom, but we found it reliable. When we had any issues we only had to murmur and you were soon there, and if we said urgent you usually juggled so that he was never left immobile!
He literally wore out the first chair, driving it miles in-, and outdoors and using it in standing mode at the allotment, to cook and to dance! When, in the last few years, his sight deteriorated so badly that it became dangerous to load himself in the car, you managed to add in some additional controls for me to do so, while leaving him able to alter the comfort tilts. He never had pressure sores when up and using the chair as the ability to alter the tilt kept the skin intact. This was a huge bonus to his health and enjoyment of life. He preferred its comfort and flexibility to that of a normal chair and from morning to night stayed in it, even having the odd kip lying flat after lunch! He adored gadgets and loved it when you added in points for his phone, kindle and satnav.
We also appreciated the efforts you went to, to attach his communication aids, liaising with the communication team and providing a variety of methods to try. While doing this Stuart noticed how poor his hand grip had become and moved the controls to the other side and provided him with a collection of knobs to try-what a difference it made! Also the many pads and types of restraints you provided and adapted to keep him comfortable and safe made life very much easier for both him and me. He and the grandchildren loved the lights, horn and indicators and spent hours entertaining themselves, both indoors and out.
